Certification

The average consumer does not have the ability to determine a diamonds cut, clarity, carat and colour with the naked eye. That’s where a certificate by an internationally recognized grading company such as GIA is vitally important.
All the leading high end diamond retailers will provide a certificate from a reputable and reliable laboratory like the GIA, with all their diamond products. Diamond Specialist specialize in diamonds with certification from leading laboratories such as GIA, AGS and HRD to ensure that our clients get exactly what they ordered. You can be 100% confident that the stones provided by us are of the highest quality.

Why is a certificate most important?

How do you know that the "1ct G/VS1" diamond that you purchased is in fact a "1ct G/VS1" diamond?
Different companies and diamond experts all have different ways of grading diamonds, as do different countries. Within Australia diamond prices can vary as much as 50% depending on the grading system used.
Because there is no international standard when it comes to diamond grading it is important to understand the differences between grading laboratories and their standards. There is so much variance in standard between different labs that it is not uncommon for consumers to purchase a stone from a store believing it has certain specifications but only to be told by another store that it is much lower than what they thought it was. To overcome this issue of variance, the general rule of thumb when purchasing is to ensure it comes with a GIA certificate and laser inscription on the stone.

Other certificates

Though there are a number of other international certifiers such as EGL, IGI, HRD and AGS it is important to know the differences in their grading standards. We at Diamond Specialist specialize and highly recommend diamonds with a GIA certificate as they are the most recognized and accepted certificate in the world. HRD and AGS also have excellent reputations within the trade. Come see us and allow us to explain in full the differences between the different certifying labs.
